The Medal of the Monegasque Red Cross (Médaille de la reconnaissance de Croix-Rouge monégasque) was instituted by decree on 16 October 1950 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, to reward services to the Red Cross at national and international level.
The round medal is awarded in three classes (gold—gilt silver, silver, bronze) and depicts the bust of the founder facing right. Below the neckline runs the inscription RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO (Rainier III Prince of Monaco). At the centre of the reverse is a Red Cross. Above it is the date 11 · 4 · 1950 and below it are two laurel branches that partly encircle the cross. The surrounding inscription reads RECONNAISSANCE CROIX-ROUGE MONEGASQUE (Recognition of the Monegasque Red Cross).
The decoration is worn on the left breast on a red ribbon with a large white lozenge in the middle. A Red Cross is shown at the centre of the lozenge.
The year of the award is indicated by a bar on the ribbon.
