The “For Merits in Combating Floods” Badge [Odznaka „Za zasługi w zwalczaniu powodzi”] is a Polish civil decoration initially awarded by the Prime Minister and subsequently by ministers.
The “For Merits in Combating Floods” Badge was established by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of 17 February 1961. The badge had two grades, gold and silver, and was awarded by the President of the Council of Ministers. Its description was set out in an order of the President of the Council of Ministers dated 11 October 1961.
By a resolution of 10 April 1973, the Council of Ministers repealed the previous regulations and re-established the “For Merits in Combating Floods” Badge as a two-grade ministerial decoration. Its description was set out in orders of the Minister of Agriculture dated 22 May 1973 and the Minister—Head of the Office of Environmental Protection and Water Management dated 7 April 1984.
The 1973 resolution was repealed with effect from 30 March 2001 by the Act of 22 December 2000, thereby ending the awarding of the Badge.
