The Honorary Badge “Meritorious for Polish Geology” (Odznaka honorowa „Zasłużony dla polskiej geologii”), formerly the “Meritorious for Polish Geology” Badge, is a Polish civil ministerial decoration awarded by the Minister of the Environment. This special distinction, in the form of an honorary badge, is awarded for merit in the field of geology. It may be awarded to persons distinguished by significant scientific and professional achievements in geology, as well as those who contribute to their dissemination, implementation and application, and to persons with particular merit in the development of geological, geophysical and drilling sciences and technologies.
It was established on 12 January 1979 as a two-class award (gold and silver), abolished by a resolution in 1996, re-established on 29 April 1997 as a single-class award, and reformed on 2 August 2001.
The badge currently has the shape of a regular hexagon with a diameter of 30 mm and is made of gold-colored metal.
