The Honorary Badge “For Merits in Banking of the Republic of Poland” [Odznaka honorowa „Za zasługi dla bankowości Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej”] is a Polish civilian ministerial decoration, established on 7 February 2003, constituting a prestigious honorary distinction awarded by the President of the National Bank of Poland.
It may be awarded to bank employees who have made a particular contribution to the achievements and development of banking, as well as to citizens of other countries for their merits in developing and strengthening international cooperation in the field of banking, and to other persons for merits related to banking.
The badge is single-class and may be awarded only once.
It replaced the abolished Honorary Badge “Meritorious for PRL Banking” [Odznaka honorowa „Zasłużony dla bankowości PRL”], discontinued in 1989.
The badge is shaped like an openwork metal monetary disc, 30 mm in diameter, with notches characteristic of 20-cent euro coins (the Spanish flower), made of tombac covered with electroplated gold.
