The Memorial Cross of the Defenders of the Zagórz Junction [Krzyż Obrońców Węzła Zagórskiego] was a Polish commemorative badge awarded for participating in the defense of the railway infrastructure of the town of Zagórz against the Ukrainians from November 1918 during the Polish-Ukrainian War.
The crosses were cast in bronze and stamped at the Zagórz locomotive shed. The cross was suspended from a ribbon. Its reverse bore a serial number.
At the beginning of 1920, Captain Antoni Kurka proposed preparing a list of the participants in the defense of the railway in Zagórz for the period from November 1 to December 20, 1920. This officer, who served as military commandant in Sanok County, awarded the Memorial Cross of the Defenders of the Zagórz Junction. On November 7, 1920, ceremonies marking the second anniversary of the town’s liberation were held in Zagórz, during which honorary badges of the Memorial Cross of the Defenders of the Zagórz Junction were presented.
Those decorated included Jan Puzdrowski, Juliusz Zaleski, Edward Solon, and railway workers from Zagórz, including, among others, Filip Schneider and Zygmunt Grzebień.
