The Cross of Saint Florian [Krzyż Świętego Floriana] is a Polish civilian state decoration established on December 17, 2021, awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland on the motion of the Minister of the Interior to particularly meritorious and distinguished members of the Volunteer Fire Service. It is a reward for outstanding achievements in carrying out duties arising from membership in the Volunteer Fire Service. Saint Florian is the patron of the cross. Among Polish decorations, it ranks below the Air Cross of Merit and above the Medal for Sacrifice and Courage. A lower-ranking decoration awarded to members of the Volunteer Fire Service for exemplary performance of their duties is the Saint Florian Badge “For Merit to the Local Community,” a ministerial decoration awarded by the Minister of the Interior.
