Odličje sv. Cirila in Metoda

The Decoration of Saints Cyril and Methodius [Odličje sv. Cirila in Metoda] is an award granted by the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference for faithful service to the Church in Slovenia. It is considered the highest ecclesiastical decoration in Slovenia.

On 18 June 1985, members of the Slovenian Provincial Bishops’ Conference (SPŠK) adopted a resolution establishing an ecclesiastical decoration for faithful service to the Church in Slovenia. It is awarded to individuals or institutions, and the recipient has the right to have one of the Slovenian bishops celebrate a funeral Mass for them according to local custom and conduct the funeral rites, provided that their family informs the bishop of the diocese where the burial will take place in good time.

The decoration consists of a round bronze plaque bearing a relief image of Saints Cyril and Methodius, and a diploma.
