The Order of Naval Merit (Orden al Mérito Naval) is a Venezuelan military decoration established in 1948 during the presidency of Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Delgado Chalbaud, to recognize Venezuelans and foreigners for services rendered to the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB). Its founding decree was published in Official Gazette No. 22,664 on July 12, 1948.
The president is the Head of the Order and has the exclusive authority to confer the decoration, and is entitled, by right, to the Order’s First Class.
Its award is prescribed in Article 332 of the Organic Law of the Bolivarian National Armed Force.
It is awarded in three classes: First Class, Second Class, and Third Class.
