Order of Abd al-Karim Qasim

The Republican Order (الوسام الجمهوري) is one of Iraq’s highest orders and ranks second after the Order of the Two Rivers. It is awarded, and its grade may be raised, to those who perform beneficial and distinguished service for the Iraqi Republic. To be awarded its first grade or promoted to it, a person must have benefited Iraq and served its army with distinguished service. Recipients must have held senior positions in the Iraqi Republic or performed outstanding services as members of the people. It is also awarded to foreigners in recognition of their distinguished status.
