The Aeronautical Merit Medal is a Portuguese military medal, established on 11 October 1985, which is intended to recognize military personnel and civilians, national or foreign, who demonstrate high competence, extraordinary performance, and outstanding personal qualities in their technical and professional fields, making a significant contribution to the efficiency, prestige, and fulfillment of the mission of the Portuguese Air Force.
It is one of the first three branch-specific medals, one for each branch of the Armed Forces, established in 1985. These preceded the Saint George Cross Medal, of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, established in 2000, and the National Defence Medal, of the Ministry of National Defence, established in 2002.
