The Montevideo Medal (Medalha de Montevideu) was a military distinction established by João VI of Portugal through three decrees, on 25 July and 11 August 1824. This decoration was created to honour the Royal Volunteers of the King who took part in the capture of Montevideo in 1822 and 1823.
