Order of Brotherhood and Unity

The Order of Brotherhood and Unity [Орден братства и јединства] (Macedonian: Орден братство и единство; Slovene: Red bratstva in enotnosti) was a decoration of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in two classes, awarded from 1943 to 1992.

The Order of Brotherhood and Unity, in a single class, was established by the Supreme Commander of the People's Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito, on 15 August 1943 by the Decree on Decorations in the National Liberation Struggle, and was awarded for proven work toward achieving the unity of our peoples. After the end of the war, the Presidency of the Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Yugoslavia adopted the Law on Orders and Medals of the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia on 9 June 1945, under which the Order of Brotherhood and Unity was given two classes and awarded for special merit in spreading brotherhood among the peoples and nationalities and developing the political and moral unity of the people. The Order was worn on the right side of the chest.
