The Medal for the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 was a Danish distinction. The medal was intended for the Danish military personnel who were involved in the naval battle of Copenhagen in 1801. Danish veterans were allowed to wear the medal on a ribbon in the colors of the Danish flag.
The Danes call the engagement the “Slaget på Reden” (“Battle of the Roadstead”).
To Horatio Nelson’s disappointment, as a vice admiral involved in the naval battle won by the British, the United Kingdom did not strike a medal. Nelson regarded the battle as his “hardest-fought victory”.
