The Commemorative Medal for the 70th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe (Danish: “Erindringsmedalje i Anledningen af Hendes Majestæt Dronningens 70års Fødselsdag”) is a Danish award. The medal was instituted on 16 April 2010 by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. On the day of the birthday celebration, 450 silver medals were awarded to the royal family, guests and royal household.
Recipients may place the letters EM.16.apr.2010 after their names.
The obverse of the medal depicts the reigning queen with a new effigy adapted to her age. The inscription around the edge reads “MARGARETHE II DANMARKS DRONNING”. The medal is attached to the ribbon by a royal crown and a ring. The reverse depicts the crowned royal monogram, with the interlaced letter “M” and two years as an inscription around the edge. On the obverse, the words are separated by hearts, as in the coat of arms of the House of Oldenburg; on the reverse, two daisies referring to the queen’s name are used.
Men wear the medal on the left breast, suspended from a sky-blue ribbon folded into a pentagon. Women wear the medal as a bow on their left shoulder.
