The Guerrilla Star (Bintang Gerilya) is an honor awarded by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to honor a person's service in defending the country through guerrilla warfare. The star was awarded, among others, to Indonesians who fought during the revolution between 1945 and 1950, especially during the First Dutch Military Aggression (20 June 1947–22 February 1948) and the Second Dutch Military Aggression (18 December 1948–27 December 1949). The award was officially established in 1949. This star is ranked one level below the Mahaputera Star and has no classes.
The star is awarded to those who rendered great service in defending Indonesia's independence and sovereignty from foreign aggression through guerrilla warfare. Recipients of the Guerrilla Star are entitled to be buried in a national heroes' cemetery. As the bestower of honors, the President of Indonesia is automatically a holder of this honor.
