The Medal of the President of the Slovak Republic is a state decoration established by Act No. 522/2008 Coll. on Decorations of the Slovak Republic. It is the only Slovak state decoration that has no types or classes. The medal is awarded by the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Government or the National Council, but may also be awarded without a proposal at the President’s discretion.
Recipients of this award include, for example, director Agnieszka Holland (for the development of culture) and Josef Kaufman (a World War II veteran).
