The Order of Andrej Hlinka is a Slovak decoration named after Andrej Hlinka, established under Act No. 37/1994 Coll. It is awarded by the President of the Slovak Republic on the proposal of the government. The President is not required to accept the proposal. The Order of Andrej Hlinka was originally intended to be awarded only until 2003, but this time limit was abolished in 2008.
The Order of Andrej Hlinka is conferred on citizens of Slovakia who have made an extraordinary contribution to the establishment of an independent Slovak Republic.
The Order of Andrej Hlinka has three classes, of which Class I is the highest. The class conferred depends on the degree of merit of the recipient.
The decoration is conferred on the anniversary of the establishment of the independent Slovak Republic.
