The Order of Merit for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Орден заслуга за Савезну Републику Југославију) was a decoration of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
The Order was established on 4 December 1998 with the adoption of the Law on Decorations of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was awarded “for merits to the state and citizens of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.”
The Order of Merit for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was modeled on the Order of the Republic from the era of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Order retained the appearance of its predecessor in its entirety, except that the coat of arms of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was located at its center, was replaced by the coat of arms of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
It was awarded by the President of the Republic, and later by the President of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
