The Lotus Medal (Satyalancana Seroja) is a government honorific distinction awarded for the efforts of members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces/Indonesian National Police (TNI/Polri) during the period 1975–1999, to those who rendered service in addressing security problems caused by armed groups from outside the country’s borders in the East Nusa Tenggara region. In addition to members of the TNI/Polri who receive this distinction, non-military Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals are also eligible to receive it. The requirements for awarding this distinction are regulated by Emergency Law No. 4 of 1959.
